Canadian Space Agency Headquarters

This imposing federal building meets the strict program requirements: it houses administrative and research functions while projecting a strong and distinctive institutional image. The project is organized along a main passageway, the researchers’ corridor which distributes all the agency’s activities and stimulates interaction. This organizational structure, a poetic reference to space exploration, takes the shape of an elliptical arc and offers clear views of the exterior courtyards. Acting as a wind screen or highlighting the entrance through an urban space in contrast with the rural nature of the site, the building responds to its environment‘s geophysical characteristics.
